Lviv is the birthplace of Stanislaw Leszczynski.
One of the largest museums in the city, with about 50,000 exhibits in a dozen branches in Lviv and beyond. It was founded on the basis of the pre-war city picture gallery and other galleries and church and private collections incorporated during the Soviet occupation of Lviv, which were under the jurisdiction of the Polish state until 1939.
